sam leighton
Director & A-Grade Electrician
Sam began an electrical apprenticeship at BHP in Hastings after high school, then spent ten years in industrial and domestic electrical roles. Interested in renewables, he founded Sunscape in 2008 and has since gained a wealth of experience with residential, large-scale, and off-grid solar systems.
Daniel ballard
Sales Manager
Dan came on board in 2016 to take over the sales and quoting role, which allowed Sam more to time to be on site doing what he does best. Dan brought a wealth of experience in the solar industry to the table, and is great at working out tailored solutions for each client.
LACHLAN
A-Grade Electrician
Lachie began working for Sunscape as a work experience student during year 11 and he was so keen and hard working that we offered him an apprenticeship as soon as we could. He is now a fully qualified electrician, and is a valuable senior member of our team on site.
Kye
A-Grade Electrician
Kye joined Sunscape as a first year apprentice in 2022 and is now a fully qualified A-Grade electrician. He is not only great at his job, but keeps the boys all entertained on site with his antics.
jay
A-Grade Electrician
Jay is one of the newer Electricians to have joined our team. He was a mate of Lachie’s, and when he was looking for a job we invited him to join the team. He is a great sparky, a hard worker, and great to have around.
wendy
Office Manager & Purchaser
Wendy has been working with us for nearly a decade and is an invaluable member of our team. She knows how to keep the office running smoothly, and can deal with any hiccup that comes along. She also handles all the ordering of equipment/stock, which means she juggles many balls, but does it all with a smile on her face!

Sales Assistant
Max started with Sunscape as an apprentice electrician in 2017. He worked on site for three years, before deciding he wanted to jump ship to join the sales team. He’s now well versed in system design and pricing, and receives great feedback from customers who really appreciate his laidback, no pressure approach to sales.

Reception & Social Media
Leonie is the first port of call for our customers, and she walks all of them through their solar journey, taking good care of them right from the start and up until the process is complete. Her cheerful and helpful personality means that she can keep us all sane as we ride out the highs and lows of the solar process!
pippa
Accounts & Bookkeeping
Pippa is Sam’s daughter, and after graduating high school, she has agreed to join the family business. She is completing a traineeship in Accounting & Bookkeeping, and putting her numerical skills to good use. Growing up as a solar electrician’s daughter, she also knows her stuff in industry, and is learning a lot now she is on the job!
austin
Apprentice
Austin is in the third year of his apprenticeship, who has impressed us with his ability to learn quickly and complete any tasks competently. He’s going to make a wonderful electrician!

Apprentice
Harry is in the third year of his apprenticeship, and is a well loved member of the team. He has boundless enthusiasm, and is an ambitious hard worker who excels at anything he puts his mind to!
farrell
Apprentice
Farrell is an adult apprentice who is now in his third year. He is always smiling and will have a chat with anyone. He is well loved by Sunscape’s dog, Lily, for always being willing to throw the ball.
jaxon
Apprentice
Jaxon started out with us one day a week as part of his VCE VM studies, and eventually left school to come on board as a full time apprentice. He is the youngest member of the install team, but carries his weight!
